The Archive · Holdings
What Was
Written Down
Nobody wrote a history of this. What exists is what people kept: filed assessments, private logs, a confession composed across forty years, an oral record taken over two days, and one document written on a floor by a man whose hands no longer worked. Not one of them was meant for you.
I have arranged the holdings by when they happened rather than by when they came to me, which is a convenience and not a truth. No two of these accounts agree and I have not made them agree. Where a document contradicts another document, both are here.
If you have not read any of it, begin with
Enough. It is a good year in a small place and it asks nothing of you.
A list of what I hold and cannot show you is kept
here.
